{"id":2,"date":"2016-03-25T13:44:18","date_gmt":"2016-03-25T13:44:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dickphilpot.com\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2025-05-15T15:15:24","modified_gmt":"2025-05-15T14:15:24","slug":"biog","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/dickphilpot.com\/?page_id=2","title":{"rendered":"My time in music"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS,sans-serif;\">Firstly I must say that I have a new album available its called Fighting for the Sinner or the Saint and yuo can find out more about it on the home page.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS,sans-serif;\">I am an independant singer songwriter, guitarist, harmonica player, ropey pianist and occasionally a film maker.\u00a0 I have the honour of having recorded AFC Wimbledon&#8217;s first new song in over 30 years Blue Blood Veins (available from Wimbledon in Sporting History May 2022). Blue Blood Veins is also featured in the Digital Works film Production &#8216;<\/span>Wombles from the Lane&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS,sans-serif;\">I was singer in\u00a0 Attack of The Kodakromes and we released an Xmas single Rolling on Home via cdbaby. Other live and studio performances can be found across social media including my songs Take a Walk with Me, Cold Steel Heart and Arlington. I also performed extensively with Dave Helmore in &#8216;The Legendary Dick and Dave&#8217; and while many bootlegs exist we sadly never released music formally.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>I have played Folk In The Park, The Canizaro Festival, Carshalton Environmental Fair and over ten years I ran and performed at<span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS,sans-serif;\"> The Americana Kinda Thing\/Acoustic Sessions at the Sound Lounge.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS,sans-serif;\"> My musical history also includes harmonica playing for Hannah White, Billy Franks (Faith Brothers), Champignon (Ozric Tentacles) and 66 The Greatest Rock n Roll Band. I&#8217;ve compered and performed on many occasions at all manifestations of the The Sound Lounge, The Troubadour (Earls Court) and I ran the legendary South London Nelson Open Mic for seven years. South London Folk is my game.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>I have released 6 albums as an Independant Artist<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The South London Stroll (2008)<\/li>\n<li>Another Mans Dream (2012)<\/li>\n<li>The Great Plain (2016)<\/li>\n<li>Experiments with Dye Pigment (2020) CD and DVD limited edition featuring Dye Pigment Experiments.<\/li>\n<li>What happened to Freedom (2023)<\/li>\n<li>Dick Philpot Live at the Sound Lounge (2024)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>My songs What I Need Is Your Love, The Demon Inside, If But and Maybe and An Undefeated Heart all reached the semi final stages of the UK Songwriter Competition &#8211; different years obv \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: initial; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; font-size: revert;\">I&#8217;ve also worked as a Multi Media and Video Projects Teacher, a Soundman, Computer Systems Project Manager and HR Manager.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS,sans-serif;\">I have 10 years experience working with children with special educational needs and children with behavioral issues. I<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS,sans-serif;\">\u00a0have designed and delivered workshops which explored musical performance and recording,\u00a0 film making and stop frame animation process.
