Really pleased to be back at the Cavern SW20 in the coming weeks on 27th November and 22 January.I’ll be ding two sets of about 45 mins each on both night. I’ll be featuring mainly my own songs but I’ll play a few covers to contextualise the songs and my journey. Thanks to Michael Hingston, Henry Trezise and Viv Philpot for the photos.

Gig at the Cavern 26th June

Looking forward greatly to playing The Cavern 100 Coombe Ln, West Wimbledon, London SW20 on the 26th June. This solo evening will be an opportunity to perform songs from my recent albums and knock out a few favourite covers. I’ll likely even dust of ‘Raynes Park’ because after all that was where I was born and as you may know “I never caught a Greyhound Bus I caught the 131” Hope to see many friendly faces.

    Common Touch

A demo of a new song. Moving towards a more positive phase of writing I think. Playing the wonderful and beautiful Hofnew Senator rebuilt, repaired and customised by David Bourne after it was found in a skip!

  • New songs this month!

    New songs this month!

I have a new collection of 8 songs about to be released to the world via CDBaby. I’d been out walking with camera in hand and my plan was to try and take one photo for each of the new songs. It shouldn’t have been difficuly but it was. But this pic seems to say so much about the collection but in particulary the song ‘What happened to freedom’ that it has become the CD cover photo and the photo for the online songs. I’ll be posting links to the songs very shortly in the meantime this is me singing an early version of the title track during and internet live stream last year. At that time lyrics were still developing, the last verse hadnt been written and the song even had a different name! LOL The collection even includes one or two happy songs. The track listing is as follow:

What happened to freedom, The Strength of a Woman, Set the children free, The Rooks and the Ravens, The Robin, Look upon my life, Highways Cities and Motorway Towns and He sees me.

Tremendous midweek gig @The Sound Lounge in the round with Andrew Green the front man of the band Strawberry Fires. A couple of hours of originals and covers, some tremendous harmonies and magic moments. This little snippet even features my seldom played mandolin. Great night hopefully more to come. • Great day in the Studio

    Great day in the Studio

Earlier in the week I spent the day with long time collaborator Justine who has got herself a studio! Monty fell asleep and Sam called in to say hello play guitar and chill. So cool. With the help of Simon we tested setup, cables and played with stuff then we recorded a new song. I’m just hoping Jus doesn’t get fed up with me. Wink, Lol, Cheeky Face.

  • A Fans Club

    A Fans Club

Really pleased to got my tickets for this and double pleased that my songs are going to be played to top and tail performanes. If you’re a football fan this play is a must see.

A Fans’ club was originally written by Matthew Couper in 2004 and performed to sell out audiences at the Wimbledon Studio Theatre. The following year the show went on a mini-tour, including a performance in main house at Wimbledon Theatre, before a run at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Now, twenty-one years after AFC Wimbledon was rebuilt by the fans and six promotions later (and yes one relegation!) the play has been completely re-written to take in some of the influential voices of the time and reflect on the loss the fans experience.

See you at the Cherry Red Records Stadium for the premier and the revised version of A Fans’ Club – Birth of a Phoenix, from 23 to 25 June 2023.

  • Evangeline

    Evangeline

I’d read the old Longfellow poem and was inspired to reverse the narrative to the fellas perspective and transplant the song a couple of hundred years in the future. A gentle delivery on a 1950s archtop. Filmed in May 2020 but it has a very wintery fell so quite valid. Lol

  • Living out on the streets.

    Living out on the streets.

This is a cut – live in my studio – a bit reverb mad but you know I love a bit of reverb. Joking aside – this song tries to put thoughts together about where we are in the Uk at the present. Sad times indeed.
